Ashvale Chronicle
Ashvale Chronicle is the rare mobile RPG that doesn't treat your attention like something to grind out of you. Combat is turn-based with a clean timeline system, so you can plan two moves ahead without a spreadsheet. Every character in your party actually plays differently, and swapping them around mid-dungeon is half the fun.
The writing carries it further than I expected. Side quests have small, human stories instead of fetch-this-fetch-that, and choices occasionally stick around longer than one screen. It respects that you might put the phone down for a day and come back.
There's a fair bit of gear tinkering for the people who like that, but it stays optional. I finished the main arc mostly ignoring the deep crafting and never felt underpowered.
What we liked
- Tactical turn-based combat that stays readable
- Genuinely distinct party members
- Story-driven side quests worth doing
